Day | Itinerary |
1 | USA - Tokyo Check-in for our trans-Pacific flight to the magnificent "Land of the Rising Sun." |
2 | Arrive Tokyo Arrive at Tokyo's new Narita Airport. Transfer to our hotel via shuttle bus and check-in to our luxury accommodations. |
3 | Our Journey in Japan begins as we take a half-day city tour of Tokyo. Drive by picturesque Imperial Palace, home to the emperor and his royal family (we aren’t allowed inside the gates). Visit Asakusa Kannon Temple, the oldest temple in Tokyo that was built to house the statue of the Goddess of Mercy. Take an elevator up to the observation deck atop Tokyo Tower where you are presented with a panoramic view of the sprawling metroplis. The tour ends at Giza where you are given time to experience shopping on the most expensive real estate in all of Japan. A local Sukiyaki lunch is provided. |
4 | Take the full day off to do whatever suits our heart’s desire. Spend time exploring the city at your own pace. Tokyo’s advanced subway system affords easy access to the city’s museums, temples. beautiful parks and arboretums, and many exciting shopping sites! |
5 | Our most event-filled day begins as we journey by motor-coach to see Mt. Fuji. This spectacular cloud-shrouded peak rises high into the sky. Then it's on to Lake Ashi for a cruise followed by one night in Hakone, known as a weekend retreat to locals seeking to pamper the soul and spirit with soothing mineral baths. |
6 | Located in the Shizuoka prefecture, Atami is one of Japan’s most popular seaside resort towns. Experience first hand the beautiful natural scenery that blends sea, mountain and sky into a peaceful oceanside town. Atami is quite the departure from the hectic pace of downtown Tokyo! Afterwards, we board the “Shinkansen” or bullet-train, to Kyoto. Kyoto was the capital of Japan until Shogun Tokugawa moved it to “Edo” or Tokyo. An afternoon city tour includes visits to Kyomizu Temple, the dramatic Golden Pavilion and the Heian Shrine. |
| 7 | Kyoto Take the entire day off at leisure. Feel free to stroll the ancient streets of Kyoto, doing some last minute souvenir shopping. Later in the evening we enjoy a farewell dinner and a traditional Japanese Cultural Show. |
8 | Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo - USA Journey by motorcoach to Osaka where we board our homebound flight, transferring at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. |
