4

Guangzhou - Kunming

In the morning we fly to Kunming, one of the most modern cities in Southwestern China.  Kunming holds distinction as having the best year-round weather in all of China.  It is known as the "Spring City."  Upon arrival, we take a city tour, then retire to our hotel for the rest of the day.

5

Kunming - Dali

Early morning transfer takes us to the airport to board a short flight to Dali, home of the Bai Minority Group.  Take a cruise of Erhai Lake.  Get first-hand experience of local daily life as we visit a Bai Minority Village, tasting famous "Three Courses Tea."  On the way back into town, we stop at the famous "Three Elegant Pagodas."

6

Dali - Lijiang

This morning, we travel by bus to Lijiang, the cultural center of the Naxi Minority.  Lijiang has beautiful landscapes and has been designated by the U.N. as a World Cultural Heritage Site. We see the Naxi way of life has changed very little over time.  A short bus ride away is Black Dragon Pond, where we take a leisurely stroll around the pristine surroundings. Tonight you will attend a concert of traditional Naxi music.

7

Lijiang

The highlight of the day must be Jade Dragon Mountain, the mythical mountain worshipped by the Naxi people.  The bus drops us off at the base where we board chair lifts to access higher regions that afford a beautiful view of the famed Thirteen Peaks.  Back to the ancient old city, Gaze in wonder at the sights and sounds of this ancient city as you walk down the cobblestone streets preserved for over 700 years.

8

Lijiang - Shangrila

Embark early morning on the arduous motorcoach ride to the famed Shangrila.  Midway through our journey, we stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge, descending over 200 steps for the best view.  Upon arrival at Shangrila, we enjoy dinner with a Tibetan family, being careful to observe the local traditions which often including singing and dancing!

9

Shangrila

Rise early in the morning as we venture to Songzan Temple, the largest Lhamasery existing outside of Tibet.  Journey later by motorcoach to Napahai, a beautiful scenic spot that exemplifies how Shangrila blends harmoniously with Nature, worshiped by the Tibetan Minorities as a deity.  After visiting Suodu Lake, we return back to enjoy dinner at our hotel.

10

Shangrila - Kunming

This morning, we board an early flight back to Kunming.  We visit the Stone Forest, marveling at the natural stone "trees."  Created by ancient winds and water erosion over millions of years, the Stone Forest is a remarkable region of limestone cliffs and peaks.  In the evening, we're in for a special treat of Yunnan Specialties followed by an exciting Minority Cultural Show.

11

Depart Kunming and head towards Hong Kong, the "Jewel of the Orient."  Upon arrival, we transfer to our five-star accommodations and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
